Days to Estimated Completion Date: 29 past ECD - now thinking early July...?
Well... so much for keeping up with this blog!
Let me try to catch you up on what's happened over the last couple of months... I left off at Week 7, amid framing work.
Weeks 8-10:
Framing continued through the next two weeks, wrapping up on April 4th, then we got a new roof started on April 5th. (We decided to replace the whole roof, rather than tying in a new roof on just the back... and part of the front...) They finished the roof up on April 11th (Week 10).
Weeks 11-12:
A bit more framing continued, and plumbing was started.
Week 13:
The electrician started, and more framing work (corrections, creating space for an additional window) continued. The end of this week was the original target completion date (90 days from start).
Week 14:
Amid scattered rainy days, the HVAC system install started and weather shield wrap went up on exterior walls where siding will be added soon. We also met a new contracting team member, who will become our primary Project Manager soon.
Week 15:
Big week: Siding went up, electrician's crew worked on some final projects, HVAC was very close to finished, and plumbing crew worked on some of their final project as well. Also, our new beautiful windows were delivered.
Week 16:
Kicked off with installation of brand new windows throughout - they're beautiful, and we love them! HVAC and electrician's crews finished up, and the big "rough-in" inspection (for electrical, plumbing and HVAC - while all the walls are open and these trades can be inspected) was ordered. First round of inspections was done at the end of the week -- HVAC passed, but electrical and plumbing needed work. (Happy Memorial Day!)
Week 17 (this week):
The electrician and plumbing crew were back this week to work on punch list items from the inspection, and these trades were re-inspected. Apparently there are still some plumbing issues; don't know yet whether electrical inspection passed. In good news: our new Project Manager, Justin, is stepping in and preparing to take the lead as soon as the rough-in inspection is finalized and given a green tag (passed).
As soon as we can get this rough-in inspection, and the framing inspection, wrapped up, things should start moving really quickly ... with finish out! Drywall (new walls) and insulation -- which we've decided to just replace throughout the house -- are up first, then the fun stuff: paint, floors, cabinets, lighting... I'm hoping it'll be wrapped by early July... Adam is cautiously thinking it may even be finished by the end of June. We'll see... and I'll try to keep you updated much more frequently! (Though this may be tough now that Jeremy is home during the day...)
Time to start packing!

For those who've followed the nitty-gritty of our plans... we decided to scrap the storage room along the front wall of what was the garage, and added that five feet to the master bedroom.
